Widespread Scam Targeting Veterans
CAVHCS will never ask you for a full social security number.
There is a widespread scam targeting Veterans. The scam uses technology to make your caller ID read: “Department of Veterans Affairs, 1-800-827-1000.” The scammers claim to be from VA and speak from a script to mimic VA personnel. The scammer then requests the Veteran verify personal information. Whenever you call VA, we may verify your information — but if someone calls you and asks for it, you should never provide or verify your personal information over the phone.
